Vyresnio amžiaus žmonių teisės į darbą įgyvendinimas visuomenės senėjimo sąlygomis
One of the main effects of population ageing is the structural changes in the labour market: the decrease of the number of workers is accompanied by the increase of the number of economically inactive older people. This demographic trend causes negative effects, especially for social security mechanisms. The main solution of the aforementioned problems is the extension of the working life of the elderly. However, both the traditional regulation model of labour law and the stereotyped attitudes to older people and their discrimination (ageism) prevailing in the labour market are the obstacles preventing effective engagement of older people in the labour relations. This poses the main question of the doctoral thesis: in what way should the present legal regulation of labour relations be adapted to ensure the active participation of older people in the labour market? To answer this question, the international and regional legal acts that have an impact on the right of older people to work are analyzed, also the effectiveness of national legal regulation of labour relations is assessed, its shortcomings is defined and additional amendments of national legal acts that could positively contribute to the engagement of older people in the labour market are formulated.
