In urban areas, the quality of life of citizens is significantly threatened by the constant growth in the number of motor vehicles. In order to effectively reduce the problems caused by motorized traffic, a more adequate understanding of the nature of these problems as well as all the mechanisms聽 hat drive this type of traffic is needed. The subject of this dissertation is the study of the interaction between land use and traffic, as well as all the factors that influence this interaction. Sustainable modes of transport and all the elements that define this mode of transport are of particular importance. The aim of this research is to establish a model for the analysis of the sustainability of planning solutions and analysis of how the planned land use affects sustainable and unsustainable modes of transport. Special attention will be given to the selection of criteria that represent the most significant factors of the sustainability of planning solutions. Therefore, defining the interdependence and importance of all factors that influence traffic in Novi Sad is set as the main additional goal. The results showed that Novi Sad has a good potential for the transition to sustainable traffic solutions, but that they are not an integral part of the planning documents and that spatially, the future development of the city is still largely oriented towards motorized traffic (mainly private cars).
