The main objective of research for the doctoral dissertation was to develop a model for measuring the performance of primary health care organizations. The concept of performance of health care organizations and health care services is a multidimensional instrument that includes various aspects of service delivery and integration. The model that was formulated and validated as the result of this research includes performance dimensions, which are described through structure, process, and outcome variables, and their significant correlations. The model developed in this doctoral dissertation focuses on the organizational level. This ensured differentiation from existing models, by clearly defining health care organizations as potential users, and integration of theoretical approaches and practical tools for evaluating the performance of primary health care organizations.
