Abstract:
I question whether a young person is shaped by the music they listen to and investigate if this listening has a bearing on young people’s performances of self-identity and furthermore whether this listening allows participation in a collective identity. Furthermore, I will investigate the extent to which the consumption of popular music and its commodities impacts on social relationships and gender negotiation.
