Спелеолошко геонаслеђе и спелеотуризам: инвентар и туристичко вредновање пећина у Србији
Speleotourism implies tourist visits to caves. In this doctoral dissertation, the current state of show caves in Serbia was analyzed and the perspectives of sustainable speleotourism development were determined through the application of the show cave assessment model (SCAM), the analysis of the survey on the motivation and limitations of speleotourists, as well as the analysis of the tourist traffic of show caves in Serbia. The obtained results of the research indicate shortcomings in terms of the protection of underground ecosystems and the tourist infrastructure. Also, based on the obtained data, future perspectives of the speleotourism development in Serbia were created, which include: the establishment of karst parks, the affirmation of speleoarchaeology and the creation of innovative speleoroutes. The focus is also on the importance of applying appropriate geoethical principles in speleotourism. The adventurous concept of speleotourism, which includes visiting caves that are not arranged for classic speleotours, and requires special equipment and professional guides, is particularly highlighted. The popularization and application of ethically responsible behavior towards underground karst ecosystems is necessary in order to preserve speleologica geoheritage for current and future generations of local residents, tourists, managers, scientists and researchers, mountaineers, enthusiasts and speleologists.
