Optimization suggestions for reusable cup systems for event planners: A study of how consumer behavior and systems thinking can improve sustainability for reusable cups at events
Baggrund: Vaskbare krus kan vurderes at være et mere bæredygtigt alternativ til engangskrus ved arrangementer. Denne vurdering er typisk dannet af studier som har undersøgt dets miljømæssige aftryk og at det er nødvendigt for alternativet at blive brugt et bestemt antal gange for at det bliver mere bæredygtigt. Litteraturen om, hvordan forbrugerne kan bidrage til systemet er begrænset, og dette danner grundlaget for udførelsen af dette speciale.Metoder: Interviews med eksperter indenfor området, interviews med deltagere ved eventet DGI L2022 for at identificere forbrugeradfærd og observationer ved DGI L2022 for at identificere eksterne undersystemer til systemet for vaskbare krus, der kan påvirke muligheden for en ændring i adfærden for forbrugere.Konklusion: For at vaskbare krus kan blive et mere bæredygtigt alternativ end engangskrus ved events, kræves der optimeringer af systemet, så det effektivt kan ændre forbrugernes adfærd og øge returraten for de vaskbare krus.Background: Reusable cups are assessed to be a more sustainable alternative to single-use use cups at events. The basis of this claim has primarily concerned to studies on its environmental footprint and that it is necessary for the alternative to be used a sufficient number of times in order for it to become more sustainable. Literature on how consumers can contribute to the system is limited and this forms the basis of this thesis.Methods: Interviews with experts in the field of study, interviews with participants at the event to identify consumer behavior, and observations at an event to identify external subsystems to the reusable cup system that can impact the opportunity to change consumer behaviour.Conclusion: In order for the reusable cups to be a more sustainable alternative than single-use cups at events optimizations of the system is required so it can effectively change the behavior of consumers and increase the return rate of the reusable cups.
